Jeffery A. Smith

Production Manager for Lone Star Ballet/Lone Star Dance Academy

Jeffery, a 1979 graduate of Hereford High School, pursued a degree in Lighting and Stage Production at West Texas State University.

Throughout his career, Jeffery has been actively involved in the theatrical industry. Notably, he served as the Lighting Designer for the production of "The Nutcracker" in 1982 with the Lone Star Ballet. In 1985, he co-founded the theater company "Arts" in Angel Fire, New Mexico.

Jeffery rejoined the production of "TEXAS" in 1989, assuming the roles of Rider on the Rim and Technical Assistant Wrangler. He continued his involvement with the show until 1991.

In 1991, Jeffery joined the Walt Disney Company. He worked at and from Disneyland in California. In 1987 he also started working with the lighting company "Syncrolite." He also became part of the lighting team for "American Idol" from 2001 to 2013, during which time the team received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lighting Direction (Electronic, Multi-Camera) for the finale of the 2009 season.

In 2006, Jeffery joined the lighting team for "America's Got Talent" and remained with the production for nine years.

In 2009, Jeffery relocated to Las Vegas to pursue a full-time position with Syncrolite.

In 2010, Jeffery established his own lighting design company, specializing in global productions.

In 2015, Jeffery returned to the Amarillo area due to family health concerns. He subsequently rejoined the Lone Star Ballet as a Production Technician.

In 2017, he was the Lighting Designer for the Lone Star Ballet's production of "Swan Lake."

In 2017, he served as the Lighting Designer for the Mall of Dubai and AC Mall in Abu Dhabi, overseeing the lighting of the seasonal mall decorations.

In 2018, he revamped the lighting for the Lone Star Ballet's production of "Nutcracker."

Since 2018, he has held the position of Lighting Designer/ Director, for the Lone Star Ballet.

In 2021, he assumed the role of Lighting Designer for "StarLightRanch," a position he continues to fulfill to this day.

In February 2025 Jeffery excepted the Production Director position for the Lone Star Ballet and Lone Star Productions.
