Vicki McLean comes to the Lone Star Ballet after many years of dance and teaching experience in Amarillo and throughout the United States. Her home is Amarillo where she returned several years ago after extensive traveling and working outside of the state of Texas.
She has her Bachelor of Fine Arts with a double degree in dance and broadcast/film productions and a Master of Fine Arts in Dance - all from Southern Methodist University. She served as faculty/associate chair in the division of dance at the Meadows School of the Arts at SMU and was the dance director/chairperson for the division of dance for the department of fine arts at Amarillo College.
In addition, Ms. McLean was the Arts and Cultural Counselor for the Ministry of Culture of Tunisia for the United Nations and University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California. She has been an artist-in-residence as a guest choreographer for Texas Tech University and an associate production manager for the Meadows School of the Arts at SMU.
From 1979 until 1983 she was administrative and artistic director and choreographer for McLean and Company in Amarillo where she performed for civic and private organizations. She managed special performances with Bob Hope including the benefit for Amarillo Speech and Hearing Center and as guests of the State Fair of Texas.
Her discipline styles include ballet, pointe, modern dance, tap, jazz, men's classes, pas de deux, methodology, musical theatre history, and musical theatre. In addition, she teaches voice and diction, and acting for television, film, theatre and commercials. She has previously performed lead roles in the musical drama "Texas" and "Texas Legacies" in Palo Duro Canyon.
Her television and film credits include working with Anthony Barr, Bob Hope, Jack Klugman, Pat Rooney, Herb Tannen and John Huston. As an actress she performed in "Days of Our Lives," "Quincy," "Deadman's Curve," and various commercials. She has also done extensive advertising work for the Fox network.
She was awarded "Outstanding Woman of the Year" in 1977, speaks three languages, is certified in Pilates and is a member of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, Screen Actors Guild and the National Association of Schools of Dance.
